The Machine That Launch A Thousand Words

I feel proud and honored to be part of the Philippine history!

PCOS: Precinct Count Optical Scanner

A paper-based ballot voting and counting machine. The PCOS is a scanner with an advanced optical character recognition for scanning, recording, and collating the ballots as they are fed into the machine. It has a security key which turns on the PCOS on Election Day. The key is coded individually and can't be used with others; each machine will be switched on by three teachers from the Board of Election Inspectors (BEI). The activated security key will ensure that there is no entry or vote in the machine's memory.

Getting to know the PCOS Machine......

                                                         Basic parts and its functions

May 10, 2010 - The first ever automated election in the Philippine history.

----- Before the election, left and right controversies about the PCOS machine shaken the whole nation. Everyone was curious what this machine can do to change the old flaws of election like the "dagdag-bawas".

Looking back before the election time
The story on how the Board of Election Inspectors (BEI) were selected.

Before the election the BEI were selected from the list of all public school teachers. They were trained by the COMELEC officials on how to operate the PCOS machine. After this training they have to passed the written and practical examination administered by the BEI Certifiers from Department of Science and Technology (DOST). If a BEI fails to get a 60 percent passing grade, he or she will still be allowed to take the practical exam. If the BEI passes the practical test, he or she will be allowed to re-take the written exam. Once they pass the tests, they will be certified as IT-capable by the DOST and that's the only time the BEI will be allowed to operate the PCOS machine in the election.

March 2010 : Queen Margarette Hotel, Quezon Province

----- As part of the Team Quezon BEI Certifiers after the training in Nawawalang Paraiso we are deploy for almost one month in Lucena City in Quezon Province for the administration of the practical and written examination to the BEI in Quezon.

-----  On our first day in Queen Margarette Hotel (where the training and the certification process will be held) we are all excited, nervous, and curious what will happen on our special task for the 2010 National Election.

----- There will be batches of BEI to be trained on the first day and certified on the second day. Every batches are ranging from 250-400 teachers, so imagine that, we have to administered the examination for 1 day. We have to finished the checking of the written exam before lunch break to know who can proceed to the practical examination. Sobrang stressful to!!!

First day - Lectures and Hands-on Training

Second Day - Written and Practical Exam
----- On our team, halos lahat kami young looking and we don't look like as a professional in a suit. Kaya on our first few days we really had a hard time on dealing with the teachers. They even questioned our credibility. Every time na papasok kami sa training room to administered the examination madami ang nagtataas ng kilay at meron pa nga nagsasabi "ay bata lang naman pala magbibigay ng exam". We are triggered by that issues and by that negative comments to be strict during the examination. That's why we leave an impressions to the first batches that we our really serious with our job, so from then on natakot na sila samin.....hahahaha.....Imagine, dahil samin mga school principals and teachers natakot kumuha ng exam feeling tuloy namin para kami si Ms. Minchin.

Team Quezon with COMELEC-Quezon Officials

Some SPOOF during the certification days:

Scene 1
Me: What option will you press in the Main Menu to turn off the PCOS machine? = answer: Shut Down
Sir: Shut up! (with the proud tone...)

= answer: Audit Log
Ma'am: Jet log
----- nyahaha....may jet log ka na ma'am? sumakay ka na nag eroplane?

         * same question....dami nagkamali dito
Sir: Back log
------ sir, madami ka ba naiwan trabaho?
Ma'am: di ba may log yun hane?

Scene 3
Madame: Can you help me with this? Sira ba to?
Madame: Yes, I know.

Scene 4

This is once in a lifetime experience that I will surely cherished forever.

----Ang dami-dami ko natutunan at na-experience during the certification days.  .Kulang ang isang araw to tell all those stories. But aside from those stories one thing for sure that I will treasure forever was the privilege to be a one of the BEI Certifiers....to be part of the first automated election...to be part of the Philippine History! :)

Nawawalang Paraiso...PCOS of You

Business with Pleasure :)

The Pleasure Side:

♩ ♪ ♫ ♬ PCOS of you my life has changed thank you for the love and the joy you bring.....
..........   (guess who sang this song and for whom)

PCOS of you I've been at Nawawalang Paraiso..........

Nawawala nga ba? o Paraiso nga ba talaga?

Nawawalang Paraiso is a resort and hotel nestled in Tayabas, Quezon, a few meters away from Graceland Estates and Country Club. I had a chance to stay here because of PCOS. For almost a week this resort serves us our shelter and venue for the rigorous training in operating the PCOS machine.

----- some of the facilities of Nawawalang Paraiso

----- there are numerous pool in the area, a playground and basketball court

----- the room where we stayed

----- some photo ops around the resort

---- in the playground (who belong with the elephants??? hehehe...)

----- in the parking lot and in front of the hotel rooms

The Business Side:

As chosen to be a BEI certifier we had to undergo rigorous training on operating the PCOS machine. We need to be an expert in using the machine, we need to be familiarized with its parts and how it will work, we have to memorized its process flow. We attended lectures and demonstrations. We even took written and practical exams. We have to do all of this to be credible to administer the written and practical examinations on PCOS operation to teachers who served as the BEI in the election.

♩ ♪ ♫ ♬ PCOS of you my life has change.....

----This became our theme song during that time. We used to sing this song when we feel tired and bored during lectures and exams. Also, one of the boys in our group always sings this song to a girl he met during our training. (guess who he is...)

-----  our classmates during the training (all ears in the lecturer...serious mode)

----- Ms. Princess demonstrating how to used the KEY

----- the lecturer explaining something but I can't remember why I was looking at the back side of the room (huli sa akto di nakikinig....hehe)

----- while reviewing for the exams, serious mode parang exam lang sa Calculus at Trigonometry to ah....

----- and finally graduation time, of course we all passed in the examinations

KFC's Cheese Top Burger : Epic Fail

Almost everyone craving for this.....

...........even me is guilty of it

Who would not want to taste the new product of KFC with its mouth watering commercial that almost shown in every gap of your favorite Teleserye. Everyone was so curious what will be the difference if the cheese was put on top of the burger instead inside of it.

---- and who would not crave for this???

------ really mouth watering for 50 pesos only, right?!?

So me and my friends gave it a shot. We headed to the nearest KFC store in our area and ordered the most talk of the town burger. The trending topic in most of the social networking site like Facebook.

----- Some shared fun photo for this weird innovation of burger

what do you want for your burger?!?! :)

---- and now the most awaited taste testing of the new KFC's Cheese Top Burger

Look why is it an EPIC FAIL!!! (compare it to the advertisement picture above)

----- presenting the new KFC's Cheese Top Burger in REALITY

it will be serve like this....

with fries - 79 pesos only :)

----- with the RED circle on top of its wrapper, as if telling you that it is a Siopao Asado....hehe

....excited to open it? here how it really look like....

the SAD reality

------ the cheese on top was so thin, if you ate it while your eyes are closed you cannot notice there was a cheese on top

------- it was so dry, the garlic parmesan  dressing was just a guni-guni....wala talaga ako nalasahan....promise!!!

**** It was really a BIG DISAPPOINTMENT.......it never meets my expectations.....

According to Ate Jenny may nilabag na batas ang KFC: (Special mention ha...lawyer ka na?!?!)

Note: Photos were just downloaded from the net. Thank you for those who have uploaded it. Sorry I forgot to captured my own burger because of the disappointment but I have to blog this to release and share my thoughts and feelings about the new talk of the town burger.

Pictorial sa Dagat - One Summertime in Laiya

Summer time! Time to go to the Beach....

and

I ♥ BEACH but I'm not a BITCH........

The very affordable and accessible beach for our location is Laiya Beach in San Juan, Batangas.

Hindi man siya kasing stunning ng Boracay or other white sand beaches you can still enjoy summer outing here mas mura pa!

Nagrent kami ng jeepney for P1,500.00, 2 days and 1 night na yun from San Pablo to Laiya and v.v.. Puro tipid kami ng panahong to. :)

Posing sa harap ng Tent at Cottage o better be called as Lamesang may bubong

Time for the photo ops: (super pictorial to...)

psssssttttttttt.......
........at ganito kami ka-CLOSE

......pictorial talaga to!

      - posing kung posing.....who's your bet for the best pose of the year? :))

----- the usual class picture!

------ pictorial with the boys

         - as one of the boys as usual, lalaki daw kasi ako dati :)

------ and finally the over TRENDING picture sa Facebook

Parang the buzz sa interrogation for almost two weeks after posting this picture. :)

with my Close Friend, Billpot.... as in friend lang po talaga kami :)

Start The Day Right with A SMILE :D

June 11, 2012

A good start of the day. A good start of the week.

Pagdating ko sa work station ko, as my everyday morning ritual I checked my email and a big smile was drawn on my face as I read my inbox. Who would not be happy to see in your inbox the names of your inspirations. So, I immediately check those mails and check my blogs for the comments. Overwhelming ung feeling na napansin ka nila. OA lang ako makareact di ba?!?! :D hahaha...Well, siguro mababaw lang talaga kaligayahan ko but those messages keep me more inspired to strive more. More more more! (Redundant na yata ako dun ah!)

* Unexpected message from Ms. Laureen Uy. Sikat di ba! Ako na talaga! hahaha....
* Email from Ms. Chyng napa-Smile ako talaga. With matching invitation pa yan, sayang di ako nanalo and sayang di talaga ako makakapunta sa event na yun if ever man na manalo ako.

 * Comment from Ms. Claire, napaka humble di ba.
 * Another comment from Ms. Chyng, gusto ko na talaga to ma-meet in person. Napaka down to earth nilang lahat. :)

* To ang pinaka paborito ko. May comment na may tweet pa, Di ba mapapa SMILE ka talaga. Feeling celebrity ako dito. hahahaha...Thanks so much Donnie Ray kahit may kasamang pagbabanta ang comment mo....hehehe :)

 * A simple THANKS will do.

This made my day and my whole week.

The Winning Green Team in Graceland

A little bit history of the place:

Graceland is a sprawling leisure estate nestled in the embrace of Quezon province’s eco-cultural tourism hub. An ambitious brainchild of a group of Filipinos sharing a grand vision, Graceland broke ground in 1996. A year later the great Asian financial crisis struck which threatened the fledgling development. Instead of giving up on the dream, the Graceland pioneers persevered and stayed on course with the vision.

Yes, you read it right! There's a Country Club in the province of Tayabas, Quezon and it's more or less 23 hectares. You can still see GREENS everywhere, madami puno ng Lychees. Meron din daw mga deers na pagala gala lang dun, but we are not that fortunate to see it, baka natakot nung makitang madami tao naghahanap sa kanya. :)

Every Corner of The Lagoon
More of The Lagoon
They also have camping site, golf course, children's playground, meditation garden, biking and jogging trails, adventure camp, Memphis Garden (ito yung parang food court nila, resto and bar are located here), mga social halls, Condominiums at madaming Swimming Pools.

Residences

Meditation Garden, Collections of Classic Military Jeep, Fountain, Other part of Meditation Garden

Some of the numerous pools in the area

 Lucky Me! (not the noodles...hehe)

Last summer 2009 I had the chance to experience and explore Graceland for FREE. Yes, super free kasi dun ginanap yung Team Building namin. My first ever team building as an employee, so another first in my life again. :)

Sa Team Building naman tayo ngayon. On the first day may orientation / seminar about  wellness and the goodness of being physically fit to work almost half day yun. Madami naman kami natutunan dun sa speaker yun nga lang di ata namin magawang isabuhay. hehehe...After the seminar time for stretching na, nabanat ang mga natutulog na buto at kalamnan sa araw-araw na pag-upo sa opisina. But we had fun doing the exercises, puro kalokohan eh. :)

DOST in Action - Stretching time
After the stretching na warm-up lang daw yun start na ng game. Lets the battle begin! So, pasikatan na ang Green (the winning team at syempre dun ako kasali), Blue, and Yellow team. Then after the boat, biking naman. Then after manalo ng Green team time to relax na and free time to explore the place at pwede na daw mag swimming. After diner socialization time na, inuman ng mahiwang Bignay wine, videoke, kwentuhan, at kanya kanyang puslit para makatulog. Then kinabukasan after breakfast gora na kami sa next destination. Punta kami sa town proper of Lucban, nag-lunch in Dealo Koffee Klatch, visited the old churche and pasalubong hunting.

Time for photo ops. :)

in wacky pose

The Winning Team :)
Inside our room
Obviously I'm the Photographer here

Staying in Graceland was great and the team building activities was fun fun fun! It was another great experience. A great way to relax and put aside office works even just for a short time.
